If you are going to visit London you should think about staying in one of the hotels in the following places…
The West End - Staying in the West End puts you in a position to catch many awesome shows and visit some of London’s most famous attractions such as the National Gallery, Trafalgar Square, London Zoo, Leicester Square, and Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre. London’s West End has always been a major tourist attraction so you will always be able to find accommodations that will fit within your price range and your comfort level. The boundaries of the West End are set by four important London roads - The Strand along the southern end, Oxford Street along the north, Regent Street to the west and Kingsway to the east.
Bayswater / Paddington - Paddington and Bayswater are also both very attractive destinations. Bayswater is essentially a residential area located near the Paddington district. What is nice about this location is that most of the hotels in the area were once private residences that have been turned into hotels. They create a comfy and homey ambiance. The underground in the Bayswater area includes several connecting lines, so you will have quick and easy access to most of London, including the city centre. Speaking of tourist locations, the Notting Hill area of Bayswater received quite a lot of attention thanks to a movie of the same name starring Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant. Notting Hill is very posh. One of the most popular sites in this part of London is the Portobello Road Antique Market, the nearly legendary shopping extravaganza that is held every Saturday.
Kensington - If you do not want to be hammered by all the hustle and bustle of city life but you still want to be able to reach it easily, then you should look for a hotel in Kensington. Kensington is a sub-section of London and is known for its great transportation options. From here you will be able to visit many different gardens, parks and other nature features. You will also be able to visit Kensington Palace, which was at one time, the home of the late Princess Diana. When you stay in the Kensington district, you can expect to experience all that London has to offer in terms of ambiance and ritual. If you are looking to be spoiled, this is definitely the spot for you.
Westminster - If you like history, then you should consider staying in Westminster. Westminster is where the current governing body of England sits in the Palace of Westminster. The Palace of Westminster is located in Westminster Square. Also located there is the House of Commons, the House of Lords and a tourist favorite, Big Ben. Just a short distance away is the royal residence of Queen Elizabeth II, the stately Buckingham Palace. Here is where you can catch the wonderful “Changing of the Guard” which happens before noon every single day. You can also find Downing Street in this District. There are a wide variety of hotels in this area as well as several underground stops for those short side trips.
